Sunday Morning Contemplative Tea Ceremony

Come join us for an opportunity to drop into the eloquent silence and natural beauty of tea ceremony in the teahouse.

For those of you who are brand new to tea as ceremony:  There is a whole world of ritual, ceremony, lore, beauty, and respect of nature that is available through tea ceremony.  When we take the time to press pause on our worldly concerns, and enter into the aimless path of tea, we can reconnect to nature through beauty and simplicity.  Tea is a powerful conduit for doing so. It may be the aesthetic and functional beauty of the teaware, the setting of the teahouse, or the gentle power of tea as plant spirit medicine, that calls you forth into the present moment.  There are many gateways in this practice. And the main thing to do is just sit and be present.

I hope you will take the time to join me, so we can share a few bowls together.

We will be mostly silent during the first half of the ceremony.  During the second half, we will open the space for questions and sharing, poetry reading, or whatever may want to arise from the space.

Please RSVP through a direct message to reserve your spot.  (bunanbrown@gmail.com)

We operate on a donation model at the teahouse. There is a suggested donation of $25 of the ceremony.  More is always welcome, and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. We are limited to 6 people for the ceremony.  When you confirm your spot, I will send directions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

If you would like to reserve a personal session at the teahouse for you and your loved ones contact us.  Also, having a tea space brought to your personal/business event is also an option.

A Half Day Session of Zen and Tea

A Half Day Session of Zen and Tea

This is a half day of Zen meditation and tea ceremony held in the beautiful Boulder Tea Hut.  It is a time to give yourself the gift of a morning away from the busyness of the world, and to focus on your Heart, in the present moment.  These opportunities give you the chance to develop a clarity and depth in your meditation practice that you can take back into your life. Whether you create space to notice a moment of natural beauty arising spontaneously, or cultivate the discipline to down-regulate yourself in the face of life’s difficulties, there is something available for everyone here.

We will be sitting in Zazen meditation for about 2 hours prior to having tea.  The Zazen periods will consist of 30 minutes of still and silent meditation practice followed by 10 minutes of walking meditation practice.  Instruction in the form will be given at the beginning of the day, and there will be opportunities during the day for further guidance. We sit before tea in order to give ourselves some time to let our minds calm down, and let space open up to take in the beauty of where we are sitting.

After a few hours of refining attention and presence, we will take a dive into the wonderful world of Gong Fu Cha.  Tea and meditation have a long history together, and for good reason. Every tea will have its own unique effect on your awareness.  Tea practice all on its own is an incredibly deep and subtle practice. By combining tea and meditation, we can open some doorways into truly lovely experiences.

We will take some time to dive into exceptionally fine and living teas on these days.  The tea ceremony itself should be thought of as a moving meditation. It is a chance to begin to bring your meditative awareness off the cushion and into the world, where it matters most.   After the silent component of the tea ceremony there will be time to share in conversation with tea medicine floating through our Hearts.

To take a deeper dive into the world of tea, I recommend that you check out GlobalTeaHut.org for much more information, fine teaware, and even finer teas.

There is a suggested donation of $50 or more.  Feel free to donate more or less. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.  Due to the size of the teahouse, we are limited to 6 people. We will go from 8:30am-1:00pm.  Once you make your commitment to joining, more information will follow.

It is currently best to email Rev. Bu Nan Daiko at BunanBrown@gmail.com to reserve your spot.  Please ask if you have any questions.

Contemplative Tea Ceremony

These are reoccurring opportunities to come to the teahouse and have a meditative tea ceremony in the exquisite beauty of the teahouse. There will be many bowls or cups of tea poured in silence. After some time, we will open the space to limited conversation that arises from the experience.

These evening sessions are a great time to connect and drop in after the busyness of the day.

These events will be limited to 8 people.

$25 suggested donation.

If there are other times that your group would like to come up for tea, please email me at BunanBrown@gmail.com and we can make arrangements.

A Day of Zen and Tea

This is a full day of Zen meditation and tea ceremony held in the beautiful Sunshine Springs Teahouse. It is an opportunity to give yourself the gift of a day away from the busyness of the world, and to focus on your Heart, in the present moment. These opportunities give you the chance to develop a clarity and depth in your meditation practice that you can take back into your life. Whether you create space to notice a moment of natural beauty arising spontaneously, or cultivate the discipline to re-regulate yourself in the face of life’s difficulties, there is something available for everyone here.

We will be sitting in the lineage of Hollow Bones Rinzai Zen, utilizing Zazen and community support. The Zazen periods will consist of 30 minutes of still and silent meditation practice followed by 10 minutes of a walking meditation practice. Instruction in the form will be given at the beginning of the day, and there will be opportunities during the day for further guidance.

After a few hours of refining attention and presence, we will take a dive into the wonderful world of Gong Fu Cha. Tea and meditation have a long history together. And tea practice all on its own is an incredibly deep and subtle practice. We will take some time to dive into exceptionally fine and living teas on these days. The tea ceremony itself should be thought of as a moving meditation. it is a chance to begin to bring your meditative awareness off of the cushion and into the world, where it matters most. After the tea ceremony there will be more sitting with the tea medicine floating through awareness. To take a deeper dive into the world of tea, I recommend that you check out GlobalTeaHut.org for much more information, fine teaware, and even finer teas.

This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the nature of awareness, and cultivate discipline and attentional stability. The setting of the teahouse is unbeatable.

There is a suggested donation of $100. Feel free to donate more or less. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Due to the size of the teahouse, we are limited to 6 people. We will go from 8:30am-6:30pm. Once you make your commitment to joining, more information will follow.

It is currently best to email Rev. Bu Nan Daiko at BunanBrown@gmail.com to reserve your spot. Please ask if you have any questions.
